- Leave personal items behind and assist others when possible.
- Keep hands visible as you exit the area.
- Once safe, call 911 and campus police with as much detail as possible.
Hide (Secure in Place)

- Choose a space out of the threat’s view.
- Lock or barricade doors, turn off lights, and silence devices.
- Stay low, spread out, and remain quiet.
- Do not open the door until advised by law enforcement or Public Safety officials.
Fight (Last Resort Only)
If your life is in immediate danger and no other options exist:
- Be prepared to incapacitate or disrupt the attacker.
- Act with determination and work with others when possible.
- Use available objects as improvised tools of defense.
When Law Enforcement Arrives
- Remain calm and follow instructions.

After the Incident
- Follow official directions regarding reunification and campus updates.
- Seek medical assistance for injuries.
- Emotional support and counseling services are available to students, faculty, and staff.
- If you witnessed the incident, Public Safety may request your assistance in providing a statement.
